Five generations of the finest tabaquero tradition.

Tobacco is in their blood, in the soul, and in their relentless determination to perfect every step of the cigar making process, from seed to smoke. Perfected over 160 years, yours to enjoy today.

What Makes them Different?

A Cigar Brand Built From The Soil Up.

Plasencia is unusual in the premium cigar industry because the family’s expertise begins long before a cigar reaches the rolling table. Five generations of Plasencias have worked with tobacco, while today the family grows tobacco and operates factories across Nicaragua and Honduras. Their control over farming, fermentation, aging, blending, and manufacturing gives the company an unusually direct connection between the field and the finished cigar.

Five Generations of Tobacco

The Plasencia family's tobacco story began in Cuba in 1865 and continued through major upheavals that eventually took the family to Nicaragua and Honduras.

That experience has accumulated across five generations. Tobacco growing wasn't added to support the cigar brand—the cigar brand grew out of generations spent learning how to grow tobacco.

From Seed to Finished Cigar

Plasencia isn't simply purchasing tobacco and developing blends. The family grows significant amounts of its own tobacco and operates its own cigar factories in Nicaragua and Honduras.

That vertical integration gives Plasencia control over much of the process—from agriculture and fermentation through blending and cigar production.

Growing for the Industry

Long before Plasencia became a familiar name on cigar boxes, the family was growing tobacco and manufacturing cigars for other companies.

By 2005, Plasencia says more than 30 brands trusted the company to produce their cigars. The modern Plasencia Cigars brand wasn't formally launched until 2017, putting the family's own name on expertise that had already been serving the industry for decades.

Farming for the Next Generation

Plasencia has invested heavily in agricultural sustainability, including organic fertilizers, soil restoration and water conservation. In 2010, the company began using fertigation systems that it says reduced water usage by 50%. Those practices aren't separate from cigar making. Plasencia's stated goal is to protect the soil so future generations can continue growing high-quality tobacco on the same land.
